Corporation Street Bridge

Vitrine Systems Ltd are proud to announce that we have recently completed the Corporation Street Bridge at the Arndale Center in Manchester. This iconic structure was originally built to replace the previous bridge which was damaged beyond repair when an IRA bomb exploded on the street below. It’s replacement however has not stood the test of time. Vitrine Systems was brought in by F Parkinson, the Main Contractor working for Manchester City Council and the Arndale Center, to restore the bridge to its former glory. Vitrine dismantled the bridge glazing and reassembled it with brand new materials including all new laminated glass with steel cable support inserts. This critical upgrade to the system allows the bridge to be properly maintained, especially internally beneath the pedestrian bridge. Making it safe for operatives to gain access and also give the Council and the Arndale center peace of mind that should there be a glass breakage for whatever reason the public below will not be showered with broken glass. Manchester City Council and the Arndale Center were very pleased with the results and the Major of Manchester officially opened the bridge on the 09th September ’11. F Parkinson said of Vitrine:

"In a time when criticism is easily given, I would like to do the contrary and express my thanks for all your company's efforts on the Arndale Bridge project. From estimating to design and from the workmen on site to management you have been professional in your approach and embraced the proactive partnering culture that we choose to adopt."
